Research and expertise

I am a Doctoral Researcher in the School of Architecture, Building & Civil Engineering and my PhD research focuses on Intelligent Digital Twins. More specifically, I am looking at how Physics-informed Machine Learning (PIML) can be integrated into Digital Twins (DTs) of HVAC systems in order to build robust methodologies for establishing enhanced predictive energy management strategies. I am utilizing VR technology to host my PINN-integrated DT. This innovative approach results in the VR world acting as the interface of the training and simulation environment of the DT, enabling immersive and interactive exploration of its behaviour and performance by everyone.

Building Energy Simulations has been my main focus and area of expertise since 2020, both for compliance purposes in the UK and for establishing Net Zero Carbon strategies using a variety of tools. I have developed Python programs to streamline tasks such as one that automatically computes the psychrometric properties of air (supply, return, and mixed), sizes the air handling unit (AHU), and finally generates an Excel file with the results.

In addition, I am BERG’s Doctoral Researcher Representative and I hold the position of ASHRAE UK Student Activities Chair. Another aspect of my involvement in the academic community is mentoring students participating in international competitions focused on Net Zero Building Design.
