Making an FOI request
The details we need from you when submitting a Freedom of Information Request to Loughborough University.
When submitting a FOI Request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the University has 20 working days (please note University Closure Days) to release your information.
The period begins once the FOI Officer receives your request. The information you provide will allow the FOI Officer to identify where the information that you have requested may be located. Please provide as much detail as possible when submitting your request. The FOI Officer may contact you for further clarification, if necessary.

The Loughborough University Publication Scheme is issued in line with the model publication scheme for Higher Education, issued by the Information Commissioner's Office. The scheme contains seven classes of information, as set out by the Information Commissioner’s model publication scheme:
- Who we are and what we do
- What we spend and how we spend it
- What our priorities are and how we are doing
- How we make decisions
- Our policies and procedures
- Lists and registers
- The services we offer
If your request is for your own personal data – i.e. it is Subject Access Request – it falls outside of the scope of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and you should refer to the University’s Data Privacy website for guidance on how to contact the Data Protection Officer.
To submit a Freedom of Information request to Loughborough University, please email foi@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk and include the following:
- Your full name
- Your contact information
- A detailed description of the information you require
- The format you would like to receive this information in
