Join a top 10 UK business school

By choosing Loughborough you will join one of the UK’s leading business schools, consistently ranked highly in national league tables.

We aim to provide an exceptional learning experience and work with hundreds of organisations worldwide to ensure our teaching is informed by the latest best practice and research insights.

All our business courses are four-year degrees with a built-in 'placement year' in year three. Our economics courses can be studied as a three-year degree, or as a four-year degree with a 'placement year'.

On all our business and economics courses you will encounter a rich diversity of teaching and learning experiences, from lectures and tutorials to syndicate discussion groups, presentations, workshops, supervised computer sessions, and visiting speakers from industry and commerce.

Links with industry

Loughborough was one of the pioneers of integrating placements into its degrees and now has over 40 years of experience doing this. All our business students spend a year on a salaried professional placement or alternatively studying at one of our partner universities around the world as an integral part of their four-year course. Our economics students have the option of extending their course to a four-year degree by taking a salaried placement year or studying overseas.

Whilst it is the student’s responsibility to secure a placement, our dedicated Placements Office is here to help and works with hundreds of employers worldwide, with many companies specifically targeting us for placement students. The School has also collaborated with EFMD Global Network to offer students an international search engine for internships, trainee positions, apprenticeships and graduate positions in companies worldwide.

Typically about a third of students are offered a graduate job with their placement employer. Those wishing to study abroad can choose from over 40 partner institutions around the world, developing highly prized intercultural skills that employers are looking for.

There are lots of options on how the year on placement or studying overseas is structured too; you could spend one year on placement (up to three placements) or six months on placement and six months studying abroad. You can even do a self-employed ‘Year in Enterprise’ where you create and manage your own start-up business.

Accreditation

Loughborough is a triple accredited (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA) UK business school. These international accreditations validate the high quality of education offered on our business and economics courses, from teaching and research to student support and facilities. We also hold the Chartered Association of Business School’s ‘Small Business Charter’ for our work in enterprise.

Career opportunities

Graduates from our business and economics courses are in great demand. In The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023, Loughborough is among the top 10 universities in the UK for 'graduate prospects' in Business, Management and Marketing, and Accounting and Finance. Our graduates have an average salary of £31,500 per year 15 months post-graduation* and many go on to hold senior positions in major companies.
