Personal Wireless Printers

Personal wireless printers may be unable to connect to eduroam (wireless network). This is because eduroam uses certificates and your Loughborough credentials for WPA2-Enterprise authentication to ensure a highly secure environment, and many printers do not support this authentication.

If your printer does not support WPA2-Enterprise, you have 3 options:

  1. Enable your printer to create its own wireless network through Wi-Fi Direct (also known as peer-to-peer or ad-hoc wireless network). To print using this method, you will need to connect to your printer's wireless network. Please consult your printer's manual, online guide or manufacturer for information on how to do this.
  2. Connect your printer to HallNet, the wired network connection.
  3. Connect your device to your printer manually using a USB cable.

ALTERNATIVELY, we recommend connecting your personal devices to the centrally managed network printers across campus. The printers support wireless printing from personal devices, and are significantly cheaper to use. More information can be found here.
