Cisco VPN - New version 5.1.0.136

A new version of Cisco VPN has now been released that addresses security vulnerabilities in older versions of the application.

The application name has also been changed from ‘Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client’ to ‘Cisco Secure Client’.

Action required:

Version 5.1.0.136 of Cisco VPN is available from the Software Centre. Installing this version will automatically remove the older version.

Users should update to version 5.1.0.136 via the Software Centre as soon as possible.

This is applicable to all laptop users on the Windows staff managed service. It is also applicable to desktop users on the staff managed service if older versions of the client have previously been installed.

IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you are not connected to the VPN when running the install from the software centre.

Instructions to install Cisco VPN 5.1.0.136

  1. Disconnect from the VPN
  2. Launch Software Centre. There should be a shortcut to this on your desktop; if there isn’t, then it can be launched from the Windows Start Menu instead.
  3. Select Applications and type Cisco into the search bar area. Select Cisco Secure Client from the list and click Install

For personal machines, compliant versions of the VPN client are available for download here.
