Welcome to the Counselling Service
The Counselling Service is available to all students and members of staff and offers an opportunity to talk and reflect with a professionally trained person who is outside your immediate situation.
For information on our assessment and ongoing waiting times please follow the links for students or staff below.
Please be aware that we have a communal waiting area.
We are a well-established and experienced team of counsellors who can talk through with you any personal, social or emotional concern that may be affecting your wellbeing, work or studies. As a university Counselling Service we have in-depth knowledge and understanding of the different pressures and difficulties associated with working, studying and living in a university environment.
Counselling is not about giving advice, liaising with others or telling you what you should do. Here at the counselling service we are not able to make any changes for you but we will endeavour to empower you to make changes for yourself, helping you to fulfil your academic and personal potential. Counselling does not provide advice in respect to academic work; housing or financial difficulties as there are specific departments to help you with these issues.
We offer free, impartial and confidential support on an appointment only basis, we are not a crisis service.
If you feel you have a crisis and need immediate help please contact the following:
