Off campus
Many students choose to live in accommodation off campus after their first year. There is a wide selection of privately owned accommodation in Loughborough. These range from individual rooms with shared facilities, shared houses suitable for groups, self contained flats and bedsits and large private halls.
Landlords and agents will start to market their properties from as early as November for the following academic year. There is no need for you to feel pressured into securing accommodation as there is plenty to go around. Take your time to get to know the town and the people that you may want to share with. Committing yourself to something too early could result in a very costly mistake.
The Student Accommodation Centre produces its list of University Approved accommodation on the 1st December every year. The Students Union also holds a Housing Bazaar early in December, to which local landlords are invited to promote their properties. We would urge you to wait until this time to start thinking about accommodation for next year. The best bargains are often to be had by waiting until later in the year!
What we offer?
We aim to offer a high standard of privately owned accommodation in Loughborough. All properties advertised by the Student Accommodation Centre have been inspected by us. Our private landlords have been accredited by East Midlands Landlords Accreditation Scheme (EMLAS) and meet the standards set in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council.
We have listened to student feedback and identified your priorities when looking for accommodation. We have introduced a property grading scheme for individual properties, to reflect additional facilities provided over and above the already high standards expected.
If you are a Postgraduate Research student, visiting Academic or member of staff - why not consider New Ashby Court. These modern purpose built flats are for suitable for single, couples or small families on a minimum six month let. These one and two bedroom flats are fully furnished and inclusive of bills with monthly payments, have internet access available, free parking and site patrolled by University Security.
All our properties are advertised on Studentpad, on display boards in the Student Accommodation Centre, and in handouts which are circulated on campus.
The Student Accommodation Centre staff are available to help with any problems or concerns you may have and offer advice on all housing matters. In addition, the Student Support Centre situated at the Angela Marmont Building (map ref 56), offer advice in all areas including housing.
