Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST)

Distance Learning with CREST

student working at lap top

CREST’s distance learning MSc adaptation was launched in 2002, after significant investment from EPSRC, to meet persistent demand for a course that would dovetail with employment and be available to students unable to be on campus.  The MSc was one of the first courses in renewable technology to be offered in this format and there has continued to be significant investment in distance learning by the School to ensure that it remains at the forefront of innovative teaching and technological developments.

Our teaching pioneers the introduction of e-learning tools. Virtual learning laboratories and simulation software allows students to perform experiments similar to the on-campus version.  The recent addition of a remote laboratory allows students to access and control a real physical laboratory.

This course has enhanced the status of study in this area.  Its highly skilled graduates are valued by industry and well placed to take advantage of the opportunities available within the renewables sector.
