Our facilities

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is based in the newly refurbished Schofield Building. Students have 24/7 access to computer labs in the Schofield Building and will also benefit from the co-location with the Mathematics Learning Support Centre.

Mathematics Learning Support Centre

The Mathematics Learning Support Centre (MLSC) exists in the department to provide a range of free services designed to support any student at Loughborough University in their learning of mathematics or statistics. Last year the centre had over 5400 visits by students from 19 departments.

For our mathematics students, the MLSC can help students in the earlier stages of their studies, who might benefit from resources and tuition over and above what is normally provided as part of their course when making the transition from A-Level to university mathematics.

As you progress the MLSC provides a welcome space for quiet study alone, revision, and group study. Our central location on campus is well-stocked with many textbooks, leaflets and workbooks, as well as computers and calculators, while the one-to-one drop-in help offered by experienced mathematics lecturers adds value to your study as you grapple with the most challenging course content.

Final year project students and postgraduate students will benefit from the Statistics Advisory Service, which offers bookable half-hour appointments.
