The Future Powertrain Conference (FPC2018) is a two day UK event created to bring together industry and academic experts within the powertrain development field. We are now just a week away from a very special Armistice Day, marking 100 years since the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War 1. The Remembrance period is a perfect time to think about the 17 million military and civilian lives that were lost in the Great War alone and to quote the famous poem by John Maxwell Edmonds, "When you go Home, tell them of us and say, For your Tomorrow, we gave our Today."

Yusuf Karim, an MEng Aeronautical Engineering student, who has just completed his third year has been selected to receive a 2017 International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) Scholarship, which makes him one of just 330 students worldwide to have received one over the past 10 years, and he now joins this elite community of future aviation professionals.
