Campus and location
The University’s 438 acre single-site green campus, the largest in the UK, offers great facilities for every aspect of student life. There are plenty of open spaces, gardens and sports areas along with academic buildings, student accommodation, medical centre, theatres, art galleries, cafés and shops.
The campus is safe and the facilities are conveniently accessible by walking, bicycle or via the University bus service. The University is located in the historic and pretty market town of Loughborough, in the southern part of the UK and centre of England, which is around 1 hour 15 minutes from the heart of London by fastest train and just 45 minutes by road from Birmingham, the cities of Nottingham and Leicester are also closeby.
Support and guidance for new students
We have a team of dedicated and friendly specialist staff on campus to help you settle in and look after you while you are here. The Student Advice and Support Service can assist you regarding immigration, finance, employment and housing issues.
Before applying for your visa (or a visa extension) you will need a CAS statement from Loughborough University as your sponsoring institution. The CAS statement gives information on the course you have been accepted onto, what level it is, how long it lasts, what the tuition fees are and what documents the University used to accept you.
Free Coach Service from London Heathrow Airport
A free coach service is arranged by Loughborough University to provide transport from Terminal 3, London Heathrow Airport to the campus for new international students at the start of the academic year.
Induction and welcome sessions
All new international students are invited to attend an induction and welcome meeting organised by the International Office and the English Language Study Unit. This takes place during the first week of the Autumn Term.
The Student’s Union at Loughborough was voted Best Students Union in the UK in the Whatuni? Awards 2014. The Union has a Global Development Officer to represent the interests of our international students. The Union is also home to over 60 different clubs and societies and organises frequent social and cultural events for international students including visits to different parts of the UK, parties and an annual International Day.
Finding a job and help with you future career
The University received the highest award of 5 star for graduate employability, in the prestigious QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2015.
The Careers and Employability Centre at Loughborough offers specialist support to our students to help achieve their career goals. This includes holding the UK’s largest campus graduate recruitment and placements fairs each year that are attended by nearly 200 companies that have included global blue-chip organisations such as Apple, Merrill Lynch, Coca Cola, PwC, Unilever, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, GSK, Samsung, BMW, IBM and Microsoft.
