The Sir Robert Martin University Prize

Deadline for nominations: Thursday 29 March 2018

Nominations are invited for the Sir Robert Martin University Prize. This award is the premier award of the University. The Prize consists of an award of £1,500 plus a commemorative medal and may be awarded annually to an outstanding student of the University for a combination of both academic and non-academic achievement.

Note: In considering nominations, the assessor panel will look for a combination of both outstanding academic achievement and outstanding non-academic achievement. In this context an outstanding academic achievement for an undergraduate student would typically be a first class degree. For a postgraduate taught student it would be a distinction and for a research student a significant publication record.

Students nominated for the Sir Robert Martin University Prize who are unsuccessful, will automatically be considered for the appropriate Achievment Prize.

Nominations should be submitted using the Nomination Form.

Nominations for all the Sir Robert Martin Prizes should be sent by email to studentenquiries@lboro.ac.uk.

Further guidance to assist you when making a nomination for the Sir Robert Martin prizes:

  1. The prizes are awarded in recognition of an exceptional combination of both academic and non-academic achievement.  Nominations should therefore provide clear and detailed information that explains why the nominee is exceptional in both their academic and non-academic achievements.  Specific details are more persuasive than general descriptions that lack detail.
  2. Students to be considered for these prizes should be nominated by staff, preferably without the knowledge of the student concerned.  Students should not initiate or manage the nomination process, nor should they solicit documentation in support of their nomination.
