Civil and Building Engineering

Commercial Management & Quantity Surveying Consortium Prizes

Prizes to the value of £50, each, to be awarded to the first, second and final year student on the BSc Commercial & Quantity Surveying Consortium Prize with the best overall performance in their appropriate year.

Construction Engineering Management Consortium Prizes

Four prizes to be awarded to the student on BSc Construction Engineering Management with the best overall performance in Parts A (£50), B (2 x £50 – one for each thin sandwich group) & C (£100).

Institution of Structural Engineers, East Midlands Branch Student Prize

A prize to the value of £50 is awarded to the Part A student giving the best performance in the double subject Structures and Materials in the department of Civil Engineering.

This prize was established by the Department of Civil and Building Engineering in conjunction with the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Robert Moss Prizes

Four prizes, each to the value of £75, to be awarded to one student in each of the following four undergraduate programmes in the Department of Civil and Building Engineering, for work carried out in the Construction Industry: Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Management, Commercial Management & Quantity Surveying and Architectural Engineering & Design Management.

Robert Moss, a builder of the town of Loughborough, created a charity for the relief of poverty and advancement of education amongst people who are or have been employed in the building trade. This prize is funded by the charity.


Second Year Prizes

BAM Nuttall Surveying Prize

A prize to the value of £150 to be awarded to the Part B BEng/MEng Civil Engineering student obtaining the highest aggregate mark in the Surveying 2 module CVB004 and the surveying part of the Field Course module CVB010

East Midland Geotechnical Group Prize

A prize to the value of £50 to be awarded annually to the student achieve the best second year marks in the subject of Geotechnics in the Department of Civil and Building Engineering.

Loughborough University Development Trust Prize

A Prize to the value of £75 to be awarded to an exceptional 2nd year student who the department judges to have made excellent academic progress and/or who has made a significant contribution to the department, University or Community

This prize is funded through the The Development Trust. The Trust exists to support the University in giving students an outstanding quality of educational experience. It raises funds from former students and other friends of the University. Their generosity has made this prize possible.


Third Year Prizes

    Sponsors’ Teamwork Design Project Prize

A prize, to the value of £75 per student, to be awarded to the group of students producing the best overall design for the third year Design Project in the opinion of the examiners.


Final Year Prizes

Balfour Beatty Construction Prize

A prize to the value of £250 to be awarded to the Part C BSc Architectural Engineering and Design Management student with the highest mark in the final year research dissertation module CVC041

Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport East Midlands Section Prize

A prize to the value of £100 is awarded to the finalist student with the best overall performance in Transport Studies.

Chartered Institute of Building Prize

A prize to the value of £100 to be awarded annually to the finalist on the BSc Construction Engineering Management programme submitting the research dissertation receiving the highest mark

Department of Civil & Building Engineering Prize

A prize to the value of £250 to be awarded to the student with the highest degree mark from the graduating Civil Engineering cohort (ie BEng Civil Engineering and MEng Civil Engineering).

The prize will be awarded to a BEng student in odd years and an MEng student in even years.

East Midland Geotechnical Group Prize

A prize to the value of £100 to be awarded annually to the best final year research project in the subject of Geotechnics in the Department of Civil and Building Engineering.

Institution of Civil Engineers Prize

A Certificate of Merit and prize to the value of £250 is awarded annually to the Civil Engineering student adjudged by the programme board as having the best performance in his/her penultimate and final years, not solely on examination performance but also with regard to coursework, particularly civil engineering design which includes, but is not exclusive to, structural design.

The prize will be awarded to a BEng student in even years and an MEng student in odd years.

Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Prize

A prize to the value of £100 to be awarded to the BSc (Hons) Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying student who attains the highest mark for the final year dissertation.

Severn Trent Directors Prize

A prize to the value of £250 to be awarded to the final year student with the best assessed environmental research project on a Civil and Building Engineering BEng or MEng programme.

Society of Construction Law Prize

A prize of £250 and one-year membership of the Society of Construction Law to be awarded to the Part C Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying student who achieves the best combined average in the final-year law modules.

Sponsors' Beng Civil Engineering Design Project Prize

A prize to the value of £75 per student, to be awarded to the group with the top mark in the BEng Design project module CVC005.

KIER Construction Prize

A prize, to the value of £250, to be awarded to the BSc Architectural Engineering and Design Management student with the highest overall score in Part B and Part C combined.

 

Postgraduate Prizes

AECOM Building Services Engineering Prize

A prize to the value of £300 to be awarded annually to the graduating student with the best overall performance on the MSc Building Services Engineering programme in the view of the programme board.

The Hays Construction and Property Prize

A prize to the value of £100 is awarded to the student with the best overall performance on the design project by a student on the MSc programme Building Services Engineering.

Pick Everard Prize

A prize to the value of £300, to be awarded to the student on the MSc Building Services Engineering programme with the highest overall mark for his/her research project. In the event of two students obtaining equal marks Pick Everard will be involved in the selecting the recipient of the prize.
