Developing explosive and chemical warfare agent detection methods
Researchers in Loughborough’s Department of Chemistry have developed a method of detecting improvised and commercial explosives on various materials. They are currently miniaturising this very fast, robust process that uses heat to extract explosives from fabric samples which can then be ionized and analysed using mass spectrometry and/or ion mobility spectrometry.
