If I could go back and be a first year student at Loughborough again, I would seize every opportunity to engage with what the University offers. There are so many people here to help you – all you need to do is ask. I would try as many different sports, societies and extracurricular activities as possible.

In terms of academic studies, it's essential to start as you mean to go on. Put in your full effort from the first year, and you'll be well-equipped to deal with the content and work in the second and third years.

Enterprise isn't for everyone, but it's an incredible opportunity. I still remember when I asked one of the Year in Enterprise alumni for advice, and they said, "I wouldn't be an entrepreneur”. I was a bit shocked, but they took the time to explain that it can be a difficult and often lonely path. However, anyone with the necessary confidence in their ideas and abilities to go on despite that warning will have the resilience to see it through and overcome challenges when things get tough.
