Students with disabilities, learning difficulties or health conditions
Loughborough University has a long history of providing an outstanding student experience, and we are continually reviewing our policies to ensure all students feel represented and free to enjoy the endless opportunities and social activities on campus.
We aim to provide all students with the support they need to thrive at University, and beyond.
We support disabled students who live with; long term health conditions e.g. chronic fatigue syndrome, Crohn’s disease and cancer, along with those with specific learning differences e.g. dyslexia and dyspraxia, sensory impairments, physical disabilities and autistic spectrum conditions.
We provide a broad range of specialist support services for students with these conditions, including study and academic support, financial support, adaptations and specialist equipment and much more. For a summary of enhanced support services, please see our disability and dyslexia support pages.
Loughborough Careers Network provides a range of specialist services and support for students with disabilities. The Student Workplace Wellbeing working group was created to address health and wellbeing issues faced by students as employees and serves to ensure that disability is not a barrier to employment.
The Student Accommodation Centre can support disabled students to access a range of adapted accommodation options on campus, including catered and self-catered rooms and en-suite rooms. If you have a specific room requirement, please contact the Student Accommodation Centre for more information. Each hall has a dedicated hall Warden and Sub-warden who are on hand to support you with day to day matters and be a friendly face that you can rely on for pastoral care and support during your time living in halls.
The Welfare and Diversity section of Loughborough Students’ Union is dedicated to representing and empowering minority groups at Loughborough. Disabled students and students with a specific learning difficulty, long-term health condition or mental health condition are actively encouraged to sign up for any of the clubs and societies that are provided by Loughborough Students’ Union.
