Sustainability in Practice

The aims of the module are to Introduce students to research skills and academic scholarship conventions, basic software for data analysis, and academic transferable skills.

Human Biology

The aim of the module is to introduce students to fundamental biological concepts of human systems and disease.

Sport and Exercise Science

The aim of this module is to introduce students to some of the key concepts underpinning exercise physiology, kinesiology and sport and exercise psychology.

Introduction to Numerical Methods

The aim of the module are to provide an introduction to GCSE & post-GCSE mathematics. To develop confidence in, and competence at applying basic mathematical techniques used in the life sciences, social sciences & humanities, business and economics, and sport science.

Sociology and Psychology

The module will introduce students to key concepts in sociology and psychology.

The Sociology component of the module will examine sociological topics such as gender, race, health and social control. The second component of the module introduces students to psychological topics including physical development, cognitive theories and eating disorders. Both components of the module will also introduce students to classical thinkers in the respective topics.

Physical Education, Coaching and Management

The aim of this module is to introduce students to some of the key concepts underpinning physical education, coaching and sport management.

Numerical Methods in Data Analysis

The aims of the module is:

  • To provide an introduction to post-GCSE mathematics.
  • To develop confidence in, and competence at applying mathematical and statistical techniques used in the life sciences, Finance, Economics, Sport Science and Biology.
