The Law LLB (Hons) degree prepares students for a range of professional leadership roles. Students will develop specific legal skills and competencies, including legal research, legal problem-solving, understanding of primary legal materials and legal terminology, the ability to analyse and synthesise legal information and apply legal knowledge and legal advocacy skills.

They will also develop transferrable skills, competencies and values, including written and oral communication skills, team working, critical thinking, intellectual independence, digital literacy, self-management, judgement and academic and personal integrity.

Networking opportunities will be available with alumni and guest speakers, as well as through the Loughborough Law Student Society.

Qualification as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales involves completion of a degree, plus additional vocational training or work towards the Solicitors Qualifying Examination, and a period of practical work experience. Our LLB meets the specifications of the Bar Standards Board for those wishing to qualify as a barrister and offers a comprehensive foundation for future practice as a solicitor. Students wishing to enter the legal profession will be supported to progress to the next stage in the qualification process. In some cases, work undertaken during a placement year may also contribute to the pre-requisites for solicitors’ practice.
