Our Fine Art BA degree has strong connections with LU Arts – Loughborough University’s unique arts programme.
Working closely with them, students are offered a myriad of opportunities to participate in or attend events, artists’ talks and exhibitions.
Students are actively encouraged to gain recognition and experience by entering industry renowned competitions. These include BP National Portrait Gallery, Bloomberg New Contemporaries, Fresh Art Best National Student Awards, and the Sky Arts Landscape of the Year Competition, among others.
Freedom to express imaginative ideas using a variety of media is fully supported by practising artists and expert technical staff within a research-intensive environment. This helps students to develop artistic thinking, responding to their work and challenging them to understand the wider cultural and critical fields within which it resides.

The best thing about my course is the variety of practices and mediums you can experiment with. From mixing pigments to create high quality oil paints for traditional painting to creating contemporary sculptures out of welded metal sheets.

I have explored so many different ways of working, with all kinds of media and techniques. I don’t feel pressured to ‘perfect’ every piece of work and am starting to understand the thought processes behind my own ideas.
