In semester 1, you will undertake classroom and practical sessions that cover the science and coaching of resistance training techniques, and in semester 2, these sessions shift to learning about field-based training activities.
In the 'Science Underlying Performance and Injury' module you will take part in weekly seminars that discuss how coaches can understand the performance requirements of a sport and the specific needs of an athlete. In semester 2, seminars build on this foundation of knowledge to address how effective training interventions are designed with both healthy and injured athletes.
You will also learn about neuromuscular physiology in lectures and take part in laboratory-based practicals, before undertaking an independent research project over the summer. You will also complete a professional coaching placement as part of your studies, where you will gain hands-on coaching experience.
