In line with the University Strategy of 'Creating Better Futures', the Loughborough University Future Leaders Scholarship offers a £10,000 tuition fee discount for students who demonstrate their leadership potential and a commitment to achieving extraordinary things.

The scholarship demonstrates Loughborough's commitment to be an internationally recognised research-intensive university with students at its heart. Our Creating Better Futures 2030 strategy encourages us to use our distinctive strengths to support, inspire and empower students to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact in their field and community.

The Future Leaders Scholarship is a one off award, applied to the first year of study.

The Future Leaders Scholarship is open to all international students with a few awards available to those domiciled (permanently living) in:

  • China
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • USA
  • Nigeria

Additional scholarships are also available for students domiciled in Malaysia, Turkey, Singapore, South Korea, the UAE, and the UK (International) with a global scholarship opportunity for any international student applying to Loughborough.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be an international fee paying student.
  • Have an offer to study on an undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme at Loughborough University prior to application. The latest date to submit an application to study to be considered prior to the scholarship deadline is 15 April.
  • Be self-funded, and able to demonstrate the funds to cover the remainder of the costs involved (remaining tuition fees and maintenance costs).
  • Apply by 6 May 2026.

In your application, you will be expected to demonstrate your leadership skills and experience, future plans, commitment to study at Loughborough University

Scholarships announcements will be made by 1 June 2026 and if offered the scholarship, you must be able to pay your CAS deposit within 14 days of receipt of scholarship offer.

Scholarships cannot be combined and you can only receive one scholarship. In the event that you are awarded multiple scholarships, the single scholarship with the highest value will be honoured.
