Current students Sophie Capewell and Rhian Edmunds brought back more medals for Loughborough by winning silver and bronze respectively in the Women’s Sprint.
It was another stunning evening for the pair as they once again turned on the style at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

Athletics
Loughborough’s Kiwi pole vaulters Eliza McCartney and Imogen Ayris won an incredible gold and bronze in a stunning final at the Scotstoun Stadium.
McCartney cleared 4.65m to win gold, with Ayris notching a height of 4.35m for a well-deserved bronze.
Over in the jumps, Olivia Breen won an outrageous gold medal in the Women’s Long Jump T38 final. Breen’s score of 5.09m saw her win at a canter and secure her second medal in Glasgow.

Loughborough-linked Molly Palmer and Jaz Sawyers safely navigated the Women’s Long Jump Qualifying rounds to move into Saturday’s final (19:10 BST).
Alum Palmer notched 6.64m to finish third in her group, with university-based Sawyers topping the pile in Group A with 6.80m.
On the track, current student and sports scholar Poppy Malik formed part of Team England’s Mixed 4x400m relay squad that cruised through the heats.
Malik recorded a time of 52.30seconds as England were fastest in 3:15.11.
The final takes place on Saturday at 21:20 BST.
Seamus Derbyshire’s time of 49.45 seconds unfortunately wasn’t quite enough to sneak into the medal places in the Men’s 400m hurdles. The Loughborough alum battled hard in the middle lane but fell just short in a quick race.
Over in the Men’s Javelin, Ben East hit a mammoth personal best on the way to finishing eighth in the final round. His first throw of 81.12m had him amongst the medals before sadly slipping down the order.
Boxing
Loughborough College alum Chantelle Reid is guaranteed at least a silver medal in the Women’s 70kg category after a 5-0 whitewash over Australian Lekeisha Pergoliti.
Reid, 29, will now face India’s Arundhati Choudhary in Saturday’s gold medal bout at 17:00 BST.
