Current student Joe Truman capped an outstanding personal Commonwealths by winning silver in the Men’s 1000m Time Trial final. Truman’s time of 59.525 saw him claim second spot and win another Glasgow 2026 medal.
In the Women’s Keirin Sophie Capewell and Iona Moir finished 11th and 12th respectively. Both current students have also had a championship to be proud of, leaving Glasgow with three medals between them.
Loughborough Lightning Cycling athlete and former student Morgan Newberry finished fifth in the Women’s C4-C5 1000m Time Trial with her time of 1:18.332, unfortunately not quite enough to trouble the medal places.

Netball
There was silver medal glory for Jamaica’s trio of former Lightning players – Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, Rhea Dixon, and Brie Grierson – after their final showdown versus New Zealand.
Despite losing the match 56-48, second place is a huge achievement for the Sunshine Girls.
In the bronze medal match, England were sadly outclassed by a dominant Australia, 68-50.
England’s Loughborough-linked Fran Williams and Jess Shaw both played for the Roses.
