I am super excited to be running for Social Sec this year as I want to keep the fun atmosphere in Bakewell going strong!
If I am elected, I will plan a variety of fun events to make sure there is always something to look forward to - including a lot of common room parties and themed nights. I will also make sure that there is a variety of sober events to make sure everyone feels welcome and can join in! Despite all this I will spend the budget efficiently to minimise the costs as much as possible for everyone attending. I will also be open to feedback on how we can make planned social events even more enjoyable.
If I was your Social Sec, I would give my all to ensure everyone has as much fun as possible and feels as involved as they can in our Bakewell community. I am committed to making the rest of the year one to remember, so vote for me for Social Sec to make Bakewell the place everyone wished they lived!

As Social Secretary, my main goal would be to maintain a high standard of engaging and well-organised events, prioritising quality. I believe focusing on quality control will make each event more enjoyable and meaningful. I would also like to introduce themed gatherings, such as girls’ nights and boys’ nights. These smaller, more personal events could be a fun way to bring people together, encourage new connections. Being Social Sec involves organising and managing events, and since I want to pursue event management and organisation in the future, I would truly value the opportunity to take on this role. I’m passionate about creating events that make people feel included, connected, and excited to be part of the Bakewell community.

Hey everyone! I’m running for Social Secretary because I want to make our Hall the most fun, connected, and memorable place to live.
From chill movie nights to big events like Summer Ball, Winter Ball, and Bakewell Day, I’ll make sure everything’s well-organised, safe, and full of good vibes. I’ll also listen to your ideas because these events are for all of us, and everyone deserves a say in what we do.
I’m creative, organised, and love bringing people together so let’s make this year one to remember!

I am running to be your Social-Rec as I have already made some of the best memories of my life this semester and I want to help create more for others in the future.
From pub quizzes to Punch parties, there has already been a lot in store and there’s a lot more to come in the future. I hope to build on this momentum by organizing events for everyone to get involved with and feel included in.
I have many ideas that would involve nights out in Loughborough, Nottingham and Leicester, but also other ideas like a monopoly run or campfire nights.
My goal is to create a fun, inclusive and socially diverse environment across the hall — one where people can make friends for life, relax and unwind and connect with others through their interests and hobbies.
I promise to bring creative ideas, energy and commitment to my role and genuinely care about making Robert Bakewell hall not only one of the happiest halls in Loughborough but universities across the country.
Poppy Millar
University life is about more than lectures and deadlines—it’s about connection, community, and making memories that last long after we move out. I want to make Bakewell a place where everyone feels included, valued, and excited to get involved.
I have experience running formals, charity events, and talent show evenings, which has taught me how to plan and deliver events that truly bring people together. Studying Media and Communications means I’ll be thinking outside the box when it comes to advertising, themed nights, and social media. Expect creative event promotion, unique themes, and fresh ideas that make our socials stand out and be the talk of the village park.
If elected, I’ll build a varied calendar of events—everything from big themed parties to relaxed movie nights and cultural celebrations. I’ll make sure everyone has a chance to share their ideas, and I’ll always listen to what you want from our social life through a suggestion platform and regular surveys.
Let’s make Bakewell not just where we live, but a vibrant, welcoming community. Vote Poppy Millar for Social Secretary- I’ll see you on the dance floor!

Hi, i’m Martha and I’m running for social secretary for bakewell :) I believe the heart of university life is the ability to socialise and meet new people. Being elected for social secretary and organising events where people can connect and make memories would be an amazing opportunity. Through my past experiences in working with people I learned the importance of creating friendly and welcoming atmospheres - I’m extremely passionate about making everyone feel included, as I understand university can be overwhelming for many people. By offering inclusive events, from themed nights out to chilled sober activities, I would ensure everyone feels involved and is able to have the most fun in a variety of ways! I will actively listen to the feedback and suggestions of residents, meaning that the events can reflect the best interests of everyone. I believe this is essential to creating the best memories and an unforgettable uni experience! My experience at bakewell has been amazing - I would love to be able to allow other people to be apart of the best community and have the best time!!!🩵

Harrison Riley
Hi, my name is Harrison and I’m studying Aeronautical Engineering. I currently do AU trampolining and IMS tennis, and play various other sports occasionally for fun. If I was to be voted in for sports sec, I would focus on two main things. 1) Bringing the silverware back to bakewell! I plan to do this by organising training sessions with various activities to help everyone improve individually and build connections and bonds to improve as a team. 2) Winning whilst having fun. If you are winning but aren’t enjoying it then what is the point in playing? Make sure to vote for me to be sports sec and let’s bring home IMS 2026/27!!
Benjamin Gandy
I’ll make sure Bakewell has a team out every week for every sport no missed matches, no half efforts, just full Bakewell spirit on show. My goal is to get Bakewell back where we belong: in the top 3 halls for sport.
I’ve played IMS rugby and plan to play cricket in the summer. I’ve been involved in loads of sports before rugby, cricket, football and now play AU too. With that experience, I’ll help Bakewell grow, get more people involved, and push us higher up the rankings next year.
Sport’s meant to be fun, and with Bakewell’s energy, we can make next year one to remember on and off the pitch.
Ollie Williams
I’m excited to run for Sport Sec because I’m determined and committed to help Bakewell thrive and dominate IMS sport. If I was successful in being nominated for Sports Sec, my priorities would be focused on:
- Making sure that everyone has an equal opportunity to play and get involved
- Communicating fixtures and trainings effectively, so everything is clear and easy to understand
- Spending the budget efficiently to buy the right resources and equipment that Bakewell needs
- Being open to feedback, and hearing what people want to change or to be done differently
- Being present and committed - for both training and fixtures
If I was your Sport Sec, I would give 110% to make sure everyone has fun, and Bakewell performs to the best it can. I’m committed, reliable and enthusiastic, and ready to put in the effort, so vote me for Sport Sec and let’s show everyone what Bakewell can do!
Welfare & Diversity Representative

Lavah Hamawandy
As a Welfare & Diversity Representative, my priority will be to create a hall environment where every resident feels safe, supported and included. I hope to organise wholesome, sober events that make it easier to meet people not only in freshers week but throughout the year. Whether it’s a bake-off night or a hall talent show, my aim is to bring people together in ways that feel fun & comfortable. Moreover, particularly in the difficult period of transition when moving away from home, I will work to improve awareness of the support services available, making guidance on mental health & academic wellbeing. I want to create the same inclusive, comfortable environment for new and returning residents, ensuring everyone has a space where they feel seen, safe and connected. In an endeavour to ensure genuine inclusivity, I would never exclude anyone through only planning sober events, instead, I would work actively to bring people together and help them feel part of the wider hall community without feeling uncomfortable or alone. Lastly, diversity is an issue I feel personally connected to. I believe every resident deserves to feel represented & respected, regardless of their background or identity. To conclude, I would do my utmost best to fulfill this role to its greatest extent.
