Sophie Hyde

Head of Student Futures

 

BA (Hons) English, MA Creative Writing, PhD English and Creative Writing (Poetry), Member of the Graduate Futures Institute.

Since joining Careers Network in 2019, Sophie has been an advocate for the development of entrepreneurial skills following her own experience of successfully running a business in writing and publishing for seven years. Starting out as a Student Enterprise Adviser, Sophie coached students and graduates wishing to start their own businesses, before operationally leading the Student Enterprise Team as part of Loughborough Enterprise Network until 2021. 

In her role as Student Success Manager (2021-2024), Sophie held responsibility for EDI/APP activity, leading the newly created Student Success Team to design and deliver a range of interconnected projects under the new Student Success Academy initiative. 11 projects offered a holistic and innovative skills development package designed to help all students achieve their full potential through lifelong skills, including Ready Set Loughborough, Personal Best, Future Talent, and Academic Success Coaching. 

In May 2024 Sophie became Head of Student Futures and leads the Careers Network team and its vision to operationally deliver a wide range of services with impact, while contributing to the University’s strategic priorities. These services include Career Readiness, Student Success and Outcomes, Work Opportunities and Events, and Student Enterprise. 

In 25/26, Sophie is Co-Module Lead for Your Future Career: Preparing for the World of Work and is Workstream Lead for Futures Festival, our brand-new week of enrichment activities for all students as part of academic year changes.
