Using the library

Printing and copying

The Library provides basic A4/A3 monochrome and colour printing/copying facilities. High quality print and copy facilities, of particular importance in the production of dissertations, theses, posters, etc. are available from Creative and Print Services.

Printing/copying in the Library

The Library has eight combined printer/photocopiers (known as Multi-function devices or MFDs). Two of these are located in the Open3 area on the entrance level, one in the high demand area on the entry level, two on level four, two on level two and one on level one of the building. All the Library Lab PCs are set by default to print to these units.

When you print, your job will be held in a paused queue until you log in to one of the MFDs. A list of print jobs will then be displayed on the touchscreen of the unit. Simply press on the jobs you want to print and then press to the "print" button on the bottom-right of the screen. When you have finished printing press on the "logout" button on the bottom-left of the touchscreen.

Before being able to print or copy you will need to purchase printer credits. You pay for these in advance, currently the charges for both printing and photocopying are:

  Single sided Double sided
Monochrome A4
Monochrome A3
Colour A4
Colour A3

Printing credits can be purchased online or at the User Services desk on level 3 of the Library. You can check how many credits you have available via Learn.

Large Format Printing (A0 & A1 posters)

The Library's MFDs do not print out large format printing such as A1 or A0 posters, but it is possible to send your job to Creative and Print Services from our PCs using the instructions on their webpage.

Please follow the copyright regulations.  Details are displayed on posters near the photocopiers.  You may not scan or make digital copies of books, journals or other printed documents (or of parts of these) unless you have been given permission by the Designated Person in your Department of School.
