September: Bookflix, Take Two

Posted: 7 September 2026

It’s a time to turn our attention to the start of the new academic year, new ideas, and new reading lists. But as part of the National Year of Reading, we’re also reminding our community that reading can be both academic and enjoyable.

That’s why we’re bringing back a favourite…

Bookflix Display – Take Two

7th – 17th September

Following its popularity earlier in the year, the Librarys Bookflix Display returns this September.

This display celebrates books that made the leap from page to screen. From bestselling novels to modern classics, explore the stories that inspired films and adaptations and decide for yourself which version you prefer.

Alongside the display, don’t forget to explore Kanopy, our streaming platform available to university students. Kanopy offers a wide range of films, documentaries, and educational content, perfect for broadening your perspective or enjoying a thoughtful break from studying.

Page to Screen: Why It Matters

Adaptations highlight the power of storytelling. A great story can live in multiple forms, connecting readers and viewers alike. Revisiting a film through its original book often reveals deeper themes, richer detail, and new insights.

As we begin a new academic year, this is a wonderful way to ease back into reading, choosing something familiar on screen and rediscovering it on the page.

Start the year with a story you already love or discover a new one waiting to be read before it’s watched.
