Bereavement Journey for Students
.jpg)
We all experience grief at some point in our lives. Loss needs to be processed for our physical and mental health and wellbeing. Unresolved grief can affect our attitudes, relationships and attainment. The Bereavement Journey® is a place to talk - 6 Sessions of films and discussion for anyone, whether grieving a death now, or wanting to explore a previous bereavement that may be unresolved. Additionally there is an optional 7th session for anyone wishing to explore their grief in the context of faith and spirituality.
Whilst this session is delivered from a Christian faith perspective, Chaplains can facilitate connections with other faith representatives on our team if requested. This 6 week course (and optional 7th week session) is for bereaved students to do their own grief work. Facilitated by University Chaplaincy staff, it is supported by a Guest Manual.

Iftar 2025

Chaplaincy invites you to join us for another Iftar meal on Tuesday 11th March 5:45pm-7:15pm.
This is an interfaith event open to staff and students aiming to promote community cohesion, understanding and interfaith dialogue as we learn more about the significance of Ramadan. Iftar is a meal marking the end of a day of fasting for Muslims, bringing families and communities together to pray and share food. We'll be following a schedule during the event to guide us through what would usually take place during Iftar, including eating a date and drinking water and giving those who wish to opportunity to pray before eating the main meal.
Tickets cost £6.50 including a charitable donation to Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) available to purchase via the online store.
Bring a colleague or friend. A great opportunity to spend time with your team and learn about this important time for the Muslim community on campus.
Any queries about this event, please email chaplaincy@lboro.ac.uk

Laughter Club

The University Chaplaincy hosts a monthly laughter club for staff across the Loughborough Campus.
What's it all about?
Laughter Yoga was started in Mumbai, India in 1995 by Dr Madan Kataria. He knew that the body produces feel-good hormones like endorphins when we laugh. He realised the body can’t tell the difference if we laugh because something is funny or because we just laugh. He combined the laughter with Pranayama Yoga deep breathing. Laughter Yoga is now practised all over the world in over 120 countries with 1000s of participants. I (Anthony Gimpel) have been trained by Lotte Mikkelsen who is the main ambassador in England. There is lots of information on https://www.laughteryoga.org/ and https://www.laughteryoga.co.uk/. If you’re interested anybody can enjoy training with Lotte.
Session format
Each 45min session begins with a brief introduction to Laughter Yoga followed by a series of interactive laughter and movement exercises- such as clapping, moving around the room, lying down and laughing. Although participants might feel out of their comfort zone or perhaps self-conscious, we encourage you to join in as much as you feel comfortable to do so. Many of our more regular Laughter Club attendees are more comfortable to enable newer participants to join in more easily.
You're advised to bring some water with you, a small cushion/something to rest your head on for lying on the floor and wear comfortable clothing (although no actual yoga will take place!) Please note: this is aerobic exercise so it’s not recommended for anyone with uncontrolled heart disease or epilepsy, incontinence, hernia, recent abdominal surgery.
Interested?
Invite a colleague- please direct them towards the booking form on the intranet when it is live. Perhaps your department would like a Laughter Yoga session? Let us know!
Come along, let go, have fun, and feel good for the rest of the day!
