Security

Our main priority is the personal safety of students, staff and visitors to the campus. We also ensure our buildings and other properties are secure, and control traffic and parking across the estate.

The team is led by our Head of Security, Ant Dales, and supported by Security Managers Mick Wood and Hayleigh Vasey.

Our teams of security officers patrol the campus all day and night, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They are always on hand to answer any query or concern you have.

We are highly visible – if you see them out patrolling, please stop them to say hello. If you look lost, don’t be surprised if they approach you to offer help and guidance.

All our staff are accredited by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) and are trained in first aid.

We also have hundreds of CCTV cameras covering the entire campus, which are monitored continuously from the security control room to ensure we keep our people and buildings safe.

We also patrol some parts of Loughborough town centre during term time, providing support to those students living off campus.

We work closely with the local police, who have a permanent office located within the main security building.

You can contact us any time to report an incident or request assistance.

Student Mental Wellbeing

Our wellbeing service consists of four teams: Wellbeing Advisers, the Counselling Team, the Mental Health Support Team and the Duty Assessment and Inclusion Team. Each team provides a different type of support for our students.

There are Wellbeing Advisers in each Academic School who can offer advice and support to students on a wide range of wellbeing-related issues, such as: stress, low mood, bereavement, family issues, relationship issues, feeling overwhelmed and the transition to University

The Counselling Team offer an opportunity to talk and reflect with a professionally trained person who is outside your immediate situation. We are a well-established and experienced team of counsellors who are dedicated to short term counselling, for emotional or psychological problems that are affecting your studies or time at university.

The Mental Health Support Team is here to provide practical support to students experiencing mental health difficulties and liaise with staff about appropriate practical or pastoral support.

The Duty, Assessment and Inclusion Team supports students who are experiencing urgent situations such as: sexual and domestic violence, hate crimes, safeguarding concerns, problematic substance misuse, suicide attempts and mental health crisis.

To access support students can complete our Wellbeing Referral Form. This form is used to decide the most appropriate team to support you. Please be as honest as you can; the more information you can give, the more it will allow us to refer you to the most appropriate team.

If you or someone else is in an urgent situation you can let us know through our Incident Reporting Tool so we can provide support.

You can also contact us by calling +44(0)1509 222 765 or emailing Studentwellbeing@lboro.ac.uk.
