Chris Cole Pronouns: He/him

Work and Opportunities Manager

Responsibilities

Chris’ role is to lead the Work & Opportunities Team, which has a focus on work experience and opportunity generation activity designed to positively impact on student experience and graduate outcomes through meaningful work-based learning opportunities, including internships, placements, micro-placements, graduate opportunities and student enterprise. 

Chris Joined Careers Network in 2017, initially supporting The University’s Access & Participation Plan activities.  Since then, he has worked supporting Businesses, Academic Schools and students with undergraduate and postgraduate placements. Chris is also a member of the Careers Network Management Team. After first joining the University in 2013, Chris coordinated the Student Services Information Team, having previously worked in the  Academic Registry and IT at Nottingham Trent University.

Work & Opportunities Coordinator

Responsibilities

Will’s role is to Coordinate the Work and Opportunities Team and the Placements Team which focus on supporting into different forms of work experience and graduate level roles, including Graduate internships, Placement years, summer internships, short term projects and virtual/online internships.

Will builds and develops relationships with a wide variety of employers, both large and small, with the goal to promote opportunities and create exclusive ones for Loughborough students and graduates.

Will joined Careers Network in 2020 as the Employer Engagement Manager. He has over 8 years of experience within Higher Education, both nationally (5 years at the University of Leicester) and internationally (at the University of New South Wales, Sydney and University Technology Sydney). Throughout that time years he was responsible for a number of large scale events including the Festival of Careers at the University of Leicester and the Autumn Careers Fair at UNSW. Will also has a wealth of knowledge across ‘employer engagement’ building, developing and managing numerous key external relationships and supporting local SMEs with recruitment, having previously led on Employer Engagement at UNSW and Loughborough University. He is a trained coach (ILM Level 5) and has supported students through guidance and application and interview support.

International Work & Opportunities Coordinator

Responsibilities

Susan’s role is to manage the Careers Network’s International work experience and opportunity activity to maximise student experience and graduate outcomes through the generation of meaningful work-based learning opportunities - whether that be short-term internships, work-related projects, placements or graduate roles.

Susan joined Careers Network in 2022 and brings years of experience working in a variety of roles collaborating with a wide range of industry sectors such as healthcare, automotive, pharmaceutical and financial.  She has in-depth experience in client relationship building and account management, project management, operational delivery and marketing and communication and is passionate about enabling students to benefit from opportunities and experiences that will put them on the pathway to success in the workplace.

Work and Opportunities Officer

Responsibilities

Kelly’s role as Work and Opportunities Officer includes responsibility for connecting with employers and businesses to enable valuable work-based learning experiences for both students and graduates. She also focusses on offering guidance and assistance to students and graduates, aiding them to optimise their internship experience. Alongside As part of the Work and Opportunities team, Kelly specialises in a diverse range of internship opportunities.

Kelly joined Careers Network in October 2021 as a Placements Officer supporting students in SDCA and SSEHS, before moving to the Work and Opportunities Officer role in October 2023. Joining Loughborough University  in 2016, she previously worked in Placement and Study Exchanges within the SSH for three years. Prior to that, Kelly worked in Programme Administration in SSH and in the Student Accommodation Centre.

Work & Opportunities Officer

Responsibilities

Steph’s role as Work and Opportunities Officer involves liaising with employers and businesses to facilitate meaningful work-based learning opportunities for students and graduates and providing opportunities to help and support students and graduates to find and make the most of their internship experience. Steph and the Work and Opportunities Team specialise in a range of different internship opportunities for all students and graduates, wherever they are in their career journey.

After graduating from a BA Hons in Film and Television Studies, Steph worked in learning support in a specialist education setting and a high school. Steph then completed a teacher training post graduate qualification in 2009 and taught Media Studies, Film and TV, IT and Video Game Development at Loughborough College for 12 years. Steph joined the University in 2022 as part of the School and College Liaison Team, playing a key part in the set-up of the Virtual Mentoring Programme. She has a keen interest in supporting and empowering individual students, helping them to find internship experiences, increase their skillset and enhance their potential.

Faiza’s role as Work and Opportunities Officer involves liaising with employers and businesses to facilitate meaningful work-based learning opportunities for students and graduates and providing opportunities to help and support students and graduates to find and make the most of their internship experience. Faiza and the Work and Opportunities Team specialise in a range of different internship opportunities for all students and graduates, wherever they are in their career journey.

Faiza boasts a dynamic and diverse professional background. With a strong academic foundation in Chemical Engineering, Faiza complements this with a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Business Management and ACCA qualifications. Her role as a Placement Coordinator at De Montfort University demonstrate her exceptional talent for fostering student development, maintaining valuable partnerships, and exceeding targets. Faiza has also made impactful contributions in the education sector, notably as a SEND & KS4 Administrator. Her internships at renowned organizations like Schroders, PwC, and Deloitte showcase her analytical prowess and critical thinking.

Jenny Noakes

Work and Opportunities Officer (Maternity Leave)

Responsibilities

Jen’s role is to support the Careers Network’s work experience and opportunity generation activity, to maximise student experience and graduate outcomes through the generation of meaningful work-based learning opportunities and matching of Loughborough students and graduates.

Jen joined Careers Network in 2021 after working in the Wolfson Placements Team at the University for 2 years. She has 9 years of experience working in a variety of roles across the Employment and HE sector. These have ranged from an advisory role at the ACAS, an HR position at the University of Nottingham, and as a talent spotter in a recruitment agency. She has experience in event organisation, client relationship building, sourcing work opportunities and supporting students through guidance and application and interview support. She has a keen interest in widening participation in the HE sector.

International Work and Opportunities Officer

Responsibilities

Sahar’s role is to support Careers Network’s international work experience and opportunity activity to maximise the student experience and graduate outcomes. She supports our international students to provide them meaningful work-based learning opportunities both within and outside the UK as well home students looking to gain meaningful work experience abroad.

Sahar joined Careers Network in 2023 and brings with her experience of working within an HE environment with both employers and students. Previously she has worked at the University of Derby as a project coordinator, delivering services to local SMEs to support their productivity and innovation. She has experience helping businesses with a tailored recruitment service, including promoting their vacancies and recruiting graduates. She has a degree in Architectural Sciences and has also worked as a project manager in the construction industry. She has a keen interest in developing relationships across different sectors and ensuring a high level of service is provided.
