Overview

Sport and Exercise Science is the application of scientific principles to the promotion, maintenance and enhancement of sport and exercise-related behaviours and is thus central to the development of our understanding of the fundamental nature of human performance at all levels.

Sport and Exercise Scientists play an increasing part in helping us to analyse and respond to many other aspects of modern life. The world of elite sport is also looking more and more to the world of sports science and medicine for advice and guidance. There is a growing awareness of the relevance of sport and exercise medicine to the health agenda.

Physicians, who have expertise in Sport and Exercise Science and, importantly, an awareness of its value, are therefore vital to performance in sport and also in the improvement of the nation’s health and well-being.

In this intercalated degree students join the final year of the Sport & Exercise Science degree at Loughborough University.

Students are able to choose from a wide range of academic modules, enabling you to tailor your educational programme to your specific interests in aspects of Sport and Exercise Medicine, from musculoskeletal and exercise medicine to sport team care.

There are also opportunities to attend NHS Sport & Exercise Medicine clinics run by the programme director as an extension to the formal teaching of this intercalated BSc degree in Sport & Exercise Science.

To apply for this programme, please email ug-sport@lboro.ac.uk to request an application form. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday 29 March 2024.
