Lara has always been interested in sport and its ability to change people’s lives. Lara studied ‘sports studies’ as an undergraduate and then went on to study for a Masters in sociology focusing on ‘the functions of sport in prison settings from the perspectives of ex-offenders and project staff’.

Research

Research title: ‘Sport and Physical activity in prison and the impact on mental health and violence reduction.’

Using both qualitative and quantitative data collated in different custodial settings, this study will explore the impact of sport and physical activity on the health and wellbeing of residents, and the resultant impact on violence reduction.
