In 2018, Jessica graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BSc in Psychology. Due to her background in swimming and love for sports, Jessica went on to complete an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University in 2019. Jessica then began working at Elysium Healthcare for a year, where she supported the recovery of children and adolescents who were suffering from an eating disorder.

Jessica’s PhD is funded by the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences Studentship, allowing Jessica to continue her research interest in sport and exercise psychology, specifically its effect on young children.

Research

Research Title: Motivation and achievement in physical education and mathematics in upper primary school.

The overall aims of the research are to examine the potential influences that motivation and achievement in one subject have on the other subject and to generate professional recommendations for teachers. The focus of the research will be on mathematics and physical education.
