Bernice completed her first degree in Biomedical Sciences (Hons) at Oxford Brookes University, where she was awarded the John Henry Brookes Scholarship and continued to obtain a master’s degree in Medical Genetics & Genomics. Following this, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Genomics facilities, University of Oxford, before completing her PhD in Life Sciences at the University of Warwick. Bernice contributes to various Biosciences modules, including Genetics & Molecular Biology and Genomics.
Bernice’s doctoral research focused on Programmed DNA Elimination in the non-model nematode, Auanema. Her general area of research interest includes non-Mendelian inheritance and how the understanding of these systems can benefit genome editing and Personalised Medicine. She is also interested in using Next and Third- Generation Sequencing technologies to resolve such topics.
