Nominations now open for the SSEHS Student Awards

The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) has always recognised and valued students as one of its greatest assets, and we now call for you to nominate your outstanding peers for a Student Award.

About the Athena SWAN Student Extra-Mile Awards 2022-2023

The Athena SWAN Student Extra-Mile Awards, launched in 2020, have been created for, and led by, students. This is in collaboration with the Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC), course reps and School reps. These annual awards recognise students who have given extra to the School in a variety of categories. There are separate undergraduate and postgraduate awards but the awards are not programme, pathway (i.e., biosciences, psychology, sport) or study year specific.

Call for Nominations

Nominations are now open until 1PM on 17 March.

The Athena SWAN Student Extra-Mile Awards are open to all students across SSEHS and we encourage you to take this opportunity to tell us about the amazing students in your school!

There are a range of categories to nominate someone for and no awards are directly related to highest academic performance on any modules/programmes or elite sports performance achievements (e.g. national or international representation).

There is no cap on the number of nominations you can make or how many categories you nominate someone for. However, each nomination must be accompanied by a short description, 150 word limit, of why you feel your nominee is deserving of the award.

All short-listed nominees and recipients of an Athena SWAN Student Extra-Mile Award will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in May 2023. Our School reps, along with support from some academic staff, will announce the short-listed nominees and winners for each award; each award recipient (winner) will receive a commemorative certificate and £25 gift voucher.

Thank you for participating in this important recognition of the outstanding students in SSEHS.
