This is the second part in a three-episode series focusing on sports agents. This episode is tackling a football agent’s role in working with minors. Conversations extend to the elements of good agent practice which could also support combating the malpractice and exploitation of young talent that may occur in the industry.
Dr. Serhat Yilmaz is a Lecturer in Sports Law in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) at Loughborough University. Serhat is the academic director of sports agents education comprising specialist programmes and courses for the agent industry. He is also the founder of Sports Agents Hub, a bespoke e-learning and training platform.
Serhat’s research expertise is on the intersection of sport, law, and children’s right with a specific focus on sports agents and safeguarding of young talent. His research activities received funding for the European Union (EU), UNICEF, FIFA, and Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF).
Serhat holds a law degree from Istanbul University, an LLM from the University of London (SOAS), Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and Legal Practice Course (LPC) from the University of Law, and PhD in Law from the University of Westminster.
