Exploring the relationship between thinking styles, wellbeing and behaviours in athletes

A new project, seeks to explore the relationship between thinking styles, wellbeing and behaviours in athletes.

In addition to coping with the daily stressors of life while training and competing, over the past year, athletes have been faced with additional stressors related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

National and international competitions including the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the European Soccer Championships have been cancelled or postponed. Athletes have been denied access to their regular training facilities and equipment, making the maintenance and improvement of performance levels as well as immediate sporting goals, near impossible.

Athletes have also experienced significant upheaval to their regimented schedule of training and competing. Restrictions to training and competition has resulted in isolation from training partners, teammates, coaches and fans. Many athletes have experienced financial difficulty as funding and contracts have been cut. These additional Covid-19 stressors further add to the widespread concern for athlete wellbeing and mental health.

Now, a new project, seeks to explore the relationship between thinking styles, wellbeing and behaviours in athletes. The online survey will take approximately 40 minutes to complete.

If you are under the age of 18 years, you will need permission from your parent/guardian to take part in this study.
