The Placement Progress meetings

Three placement meetings will take place, the first typically within three months of the placement start date, the second before the end of March 2024, and the third before the end of June 2024.

  • The purpose of the meeting is for the student and their Placement Tutor to meet and discuss the progress of the placement and the requirements of the DPS. In the second meeting, the Placement Tutor will also meet the student’s line manager to discuss their progress and to address any queries you may have.
  • The first meeting is typically shorter and between the student and Placement Tutor only. This will usually be conducted within the first month of the placement starting.
  • The second meeting will be between the Placement Tutor and the student’s line manager; as well as a separate meeting of all three parties. This will usually be conducted halfway through the student’s placement year.
  • The third meeting is a progress meeting between the student and Placement Tutor. This will usually be conducted in the final few months of placement, usually between March and June, before the student finishes.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to arrange the meeting to suit all parties involved. The Placement Tutor will have a checklist to work through to ensure that they have gained all the information they need from the meeting.
  • During the meetings, you should talk about the student’s progress, workload, and any areas of improvement for the student to work on. New targets could be set for the student to work towards, to help them achieve the desired goals.
  • Should it be required, further contact or even a further meeting, can be arranged on a need’s basis.
