Other Wolfson School engagement opportunities

A placement is not the only way that you can engage with Wolfson School students. We have several different opportunities for companies to widen their exposure to our students, benefit from university expertise and access our cutting-edge research.

These include:

Opportunities to offer real-life group projects to our students in 2nd or 4th year.  This allows our students to benefit from engaging with your company, receiving support from an industry tutor through 3 focussed visits including the final project presentations, whilst also being supervised by an academic.

Following on from a successful placement year, you can continue to work with and support your Placement student(s) via an Individual Project that they will undertake when they return to the University. For further information on how to engage with the Projects, please contact ws-individual-projects@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk.

We have several popular scholarship opportunities established with various employers and welcome the chance to offer more of these to our students. Providing students with an annual financial remuneration and/or a guaranteed placement helps you to secure the best talent at an earlier stage of the normal recruitment process. Each year, our students can self-nominate to win a school prize for the best placement. We are looking for companies to sponsor additional prizes allowing us to recognise/reward more student’s valuable work. Sponsoring a prize is a great way to support students and get exposure for your company.

Our research has a wide-ranging impact across a diverse range of sectors. Companies can gain access to our research and facilities through fully funded or leveraged opportunities with Research Councils. Our new Masters Level Apprenticeship is the next step in our Systems Engineering educational journey, offering apprentices the opportunity to further integrate their academic and practice-based learning whatever their sector – energy, defence, telecommunications, health or infrastructure.
