Indranil is a visiting fellow in AI Capability Evaluations and AI Field Operations at the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University.

He is a Chartered Engineer, entrepreneurial leader, board member, and independent Non-Executive Director with global experience spanning insurance operations, technology, and governance across sell, build and deliver organisations. He has established visionary information systems strategies and delivered large-scale technical solutions, including enterprise-wide application development in both build and buy scenarios. Proven track record in creating value through leveraging technology, achieving operational excellence, and driving IT strategy, cost optimization, and digital transformation, particularly with the insurance sector.

He built his career through senior roles at DXC, IBM, AXA, and EY before moving into advisory work, focusing on insurance software product development, acquisitions, and value creation, and into academics, participating in industry collaborations and teaming agreements spanning research and delivery programmes. Most recently he was Vice President and Chief of Technology and Insurance Operations for a Property & Casualty Insurance business globally and the Group Chief Executive Ins-Sure Holdings Ltd, a Lloyd’s Market Group joint venture. He currently serves on multiple boards as independent Non-Executive Director. He was named one of the Top 100 Diverse Leaders in Tech by the US Technology Inclusion Council in 2021.

Indranil is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute for IT, and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors in the UK, and has published several research articles, industry whitepapers in areas of accelerated learning systems, computer processing of Japanese and Indian language texts, machine translations, requirements engineering, digital insurance and data exchange platforms to fight fraud using blockchain.

Research interests encompass methods and approaches for:

  • Modelling and re-use of the software engineering knowledge on Software Release Re-Engineering design task and integrating it into future evolutionary software design and software development processes.
  • Developing an Emergent Technology Prioritisation Model for Effective Risk Transfer.
  • Assessing and validating LLMs with a focus on control and alignment, safeguard, human influence, and social integration.
  • Validating AI systems through human-centred longitudinal experiments, robust evaluations and stress-testing of safeguard for autonomous agents, modelling multi-agent LLM interactions for social resilience, insider-threat-inspired safeguard for AI Agents and Code Generation.
  • Understanding the use of LLMs as proxies for human auditing (assurance), impact on hardware and compliance for large-scale AI systems.
  • Advisor to the National Centre of Creativity enabled by AI (CebAI) at Bayes Business School, City St George’s University of London.
