Having obtained my PhD in the are of mathematics, I started my first engineering job as software developer at AVL List GmbH (Austria) in 1998. My role was the main solver development of the commercial software AVL EXCITETM. Over the years I became development owner as well as deputy product owner of EXCITE. In parallel I became Skill Team Leader for Solver Technologies in AVL being responsible for the solver development of all commercial AVL/AST products as there are CRUISE M, EXCITE, FIRE M and Model.CONNECT. As solver development is very much R&D-related, I managed, processed and contributed to a number of R&D projects dedicated to national (e. g. ÖAW, FFG, Competence Centers) but also international (Marie Curie, H2020, EPSRC) programs as well as surfed as a reviewer for according proposals.
In parallel I surfed as lecturer in various fields (e. g. Structural Dynamics, Acoustics, Numerical Methods, Thermodynamics) and supervised more than 40 theses (PhD, Diploma, Master and Bachelor) targeting various topics – all mainly at Graz University of Technology.
Over the past decades I continuously published a three-digit number of publications, surfed as a reviewer for more than twenty different scientific journals and conferences and received a number of awards.
Concluding all above content outlines me to be a long-standing authentic interface between industry and academia. Consequently, I got Chief Coordinator Research Funding of AVL List GmbH in 2025. In this role I coordinate R&D both at the national and at the international level.
Tasks are project submission, formulation and selection of consortia and the maintenance of high-quality standards in projects. Furthermore, I am involved in cooperations with universities and support the selection of future collaboration and research priorities. Finally, I represent AVL List GmbH in its interaction with national and international organizations and associations for the promotion of scientific and applied research.
