Loughborough's Roll-Royce UTC maintains its leadership position, the UK must train a new generation of engineers with the skills needed to innovate in this data-rich environment. This new CDT in Future Propulsion and Power will train engineers with the Data, Learning and Design, and Systems Integration skills required by aero-thermal engineers of the future.

The Loughborough / Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre have been given an Award of Excellence by the European Union’s research programme LEMCOTEC. This recognises their recent outstanding work in developing advanced designs of compressor transition ducts for the next generation of large civil aero engines.

The Economic Impact and International Impact Awards were both won by the Loughborough University Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre, which has made a significant contribution to the development of the Rolls-Royce Trent family of engines.
