The Centre for Information Management (CIM) is a cross-disciplinary research centre at Loughborough University. The centre was established in 2013 to critically engage with the power, potential, and perils of information in the digital age.
Our mission is to explore responsible innovation into how organisations create and deploy information. Our work addresses major questions on the use of data, information and associated systems and technologies. We are strong advocates for the ethical, sustainable, and inclusive development of an information society.
Through the exciting work of our academic community, we aim to support organisations, governments and societies in their ongoing transition to a digital information-based world.

Responsible innovation by design
We believe digital transformation must be both research-led and value-driven, reducing the real-world harms and challenges of digital systems.
Digital Decarbonisation
We are pioneers of digital decarbonisation, reducing the environmental impact of data through more sustainable practices in storage, processing, and use.
Interdisciplinary by design
We bring together business, policy and academics from across STEM subjects, social sciences, and the arts to co-create research of value and consequence.
Impact-driven, industry-connected
We work with global firms, national bodies, and communities to translate research into achieving more ethical, transparent, and inclusive digital futures.
