XGRADE 2026

Andrew Farnworth presented at the first XGRADE workshop in Palermo, Italy.

Andrew Farnworth represented the ARAMP group at the first workshop of Advances in X-ray and Gamma RAy DEtectors and applications (XGRADE), on the 24-26th of March 2026 in Palermo, Italy. This is a new workshop series intended to provide a forum for discussion and collaboration between researchers working with state-of-the-art X-ray and gamma ray detection technologies. XGRADE is supported by the European Network for radiation-detection based Research and Innovation addressing increasing societal CHallenges (ENRICH).

Andy presented his progress made in the development of charge sharing correction algorithms for HEXITEC - outlining a range of methods for reconstructing multipixel events to improve detector sensitivity, energy resolution and spatial resolution. These methods are generally applicable to spectroscopic, hybrid-pixel detector devices which make use of the small pixel effect, and are expected to have wide range applications in nuclear medicine imaging and CT.
