Both organisations are committed to driving innovation in women’s sport, and the partnership comes at a pivotal moment as the Vitality Roses prepare for next year's Netball World Cup in Sydney, Australia.
Under the new partnership, Loughborough’s practitioners will provide specialist technical support, while its academics will undertake research to advance understanding of elite netball performance.
By combining England Netball's high-performance programme with Loughborough's strengths in sports science, medicine and applied research, the partnership will enhance support for players at every stage of the pathway, from emerging talent through to the senior international squad.
Access to Loughborough’s leading experts and facilities will also create an elite performance environment for the Vitality Roses, helping them build on recent success and challenge for the world title next year.
Loughborough University’s Director of Sport, Louise Gear, said: “We’re incredibly proud of this new performance partnership between Loughborough and England Netball.
“Bringing together our world-class expertise, facilities and leading research with England Netball’s strong performance programme and World Cup aspirations will enable us to jointly make a huge difference on and off the court.”
Welcoming the performance partnership, England Netball Performance Director David Parsons said: “This performance partnership with Loughborough University is a significant step forward for our performance programme. Loughborough’s world-leading expertise in sports science, medicine and applied research aligns perfectly with our ambitions for the Vitality Roses and our pathway athletes.
“By working closely together, we can create an even more supportive and innovative environment that helps our players develop, perform and ultimately challenge on the world stage.”
