This is a strong result that reflects the progress happening right across the University, and it gives us real momentum as we continue working towards our ambition of breaking into the global top 200.
The QS World University Rankings are one of the most widely recognised international league tables. They take into account a range of factors including academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact, international outlook, and the overall student experience.
While rankings are only one measure of success, this year’s improvement is a reflection of the work happening across the whole University – in research and teaching, professional services, and our external partnerships and engagement.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Nick Jennings said: “This significant rise reflects the collective effort across the University and the momentum we are building. But it is not the finish line. With the global top 200 now within touching distance, our ambition is stronger than ever.
“Every high-quality research paper, every successful graduate, every international partnership, every employer collaboration and every opportunity to showcase our expertise strengthens Loughborough’s reputation and contributes to our future success.
“The top 200 is within reach – and together, we’ll keep moving forward. I would like to thank everyone for all that they do to support all aspects of our operation across the University which has led to this fantastic result.”
Over the coming months, we’ll share more on how the QS rankings work, what they measure, and how different activities across the University contribute to where we are now and where we’re heading next.
