Loughborough University will be at the heart of the UK's Global R&D and Science Investment Summit next week, with its Vice-Chancellor joining national science leaders on the programme and five of its spinouts showcasing their technologies to investors.

Taking place at the Royal Society on 8–9 June as part of London Tech Week, the Summit will bring together representatives from government, industry, academia and the investment community to explore how research and innovation can drive economic growth and address global challenges.

Loughborough is hosting the Invest in UK University R&D – Midlands Campaign on behalf of partners from across the region, helping to showcase the Midlands as a major centre for research, innovation and commercialisation. The Campaign culminates in the UK Global R&D and Science Investment Summit, providing a high-profile national and international platform to promote the region’s research strengths, investment opportunities and university-led innovation ecosystem.

As part of the programme, Loughborough Vice-Chancellor Professor Nick Jennings will speak after Lord Patrick Vallance, Minister for Science, Innovation, Research and Nuclear, placing the University at the heart of discussions about the future of UK research, innovation and investment.

The University will also be strongly represented in the Summit's Venture and Spinout Zone, where five Loughborough spinouts will present their technologies to investors and industry leaders.

Myomaker Bio Ltd and LectomeBio Ltd will feature in the Life Sciences showcase, TriboDENS Ltd will represent the University in the CleanTech showcase, while Figura Analytics and TransHumanity will take part in the DeepTech showcase.

Several of the companies will also participate in the dedicated Midlands Spinout Showcase, providing further opportunities to engage with potential investors and partners from around the world.

The Summit marks a significant milestone for the Invest in UK University R&D – Midlands Campaign and builds on Forging Ahead, the Midlands-wide commercialisation programme led by Loughborough University and Midlands Innovation. The programme is helping universities across the region accelerate the journey from research discovery to commercial opportunity.

Speaking about Loughborough's involvement in the Summit, the University's Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Dan Parsons, said: “Loughborough is delighted to be playing such a prominent role at this important event.

“The Summit provides an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of research and innovation taking place across the Midlands and to showcase the businesses emerging from our universities.

“It is particularly exciting to see five Loughborough spinouts taking part. They represent the breadth of innovation happening across our University, from life sciences and clean technologies to deep tech, and will have the opportunity to engage directly with investors and organisations that can help support their growth.

“With the University hosting the Midlands campaign, our Vice-Chancellor contributing to the national discussion on research and innovation, and our spinouts showcasing their technologies, the Summit is an excellent opportunity to highlight the impact that university research can have beyond the laboratory.”
