Loughborough University shortlisted for national awards

Two Loughborough University initiatives have been shortlisted for the 2026 Sports Industry Awards.

The awards – celebrating its 25th anniversary this year – are recognised as a landmark occasion in the sport sector, commemorating the very best work across the industry.

Loughborough has been shortlisted in two categories: Environmental Sustainability and the Sports Podcast Award.

The Environmental Sustainability category showcases our work in maintaining and enhancing a sustainable sporting offer across campus, highlighting climate positive projects , including the decarbonisation of the swimming pool.

The award also details Loughborough’s strong partnerships with Carbon Jacked, Veritree, and Trash Free Trails that amplify impact and transparency. To read more on the entry visit here.

The Sports Podcast Award sees the University’s Experts in Sport podcast make the strong shortlist.

Bridging the gap between academia and professional practice, the podcast provides evidence-based insights for the UK and global sporting community on a whole host of topics across sport and health. To read more on the entry visit here.

Professor Jo Maher, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Sport at Loughborough University, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be shortlisted in two categories at the Sport Industry Awards.

Winners of The 2026 Sport Industry Awards will be announced on Thursday 30 April.
