Loughborough ranked 10th in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024

After a brief, one-year absence, Loughborough University has regained its top ten ranking in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, revealed today (Friday 15 September).

In the subject tables, Loughborough is ranked in the top ten for 15 out of the 31 subjects the University appears in, with Architecture ranked top in the UK, Art and Design and Communication and Media Studies both placed 2nd, and Building and Sport Science both ranked 3rd.

The University is also runner-up for Sports University of the Year.

The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide assesses universities against eight criteria: research quality, teaching quality, student experience, entry standards, completion rate, the proportion of Firsts and 2:1s awarded, graduate prospects and student/staff ratio.

In its write up about Loughborough University, The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide says: “Rising one place to tenth position in our academic table is a homecoming, but there will be no resting on its laurels. Its new strategy – Creating Better Futures. Together – sets out an ambition to keep pushing with a greater focus on innovation, a welcoming atmosphere for all, and raising Loughborough’s international profile.”

The University’s staff, students and alumni continue to make a real difference across the world. The mOm Essential Incubator, invented by School of Design and Creative Arts graduate James Roberts, has helped babies thrive in NHS hospitals in the UK and is currently being used in war-torn Ukraine. And research from the School of Architecture, Building and Civil and Engineering is helping to guide the country through the RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) crisis.
