Book your place at the launch of Loughborough University’s Inaugural Lecture series

Loughborough University extends a warm welcome for everyone to attend these engaging public events, delivered by its Professors on campus.

The first event of the series will take place on Wednesday 1 November, covering the following topics:

  • Are Designers Masters of the Maze? Unravelling Dilemmas in Designing Complex Healthcare Systems – Professor Thomas Jun, School of Design and Creative Arts
  • AI in Business: Hype, Success, and the Future of Work? – Professor Crispin Coombs, Loughborough Business School

Professor Thomas Jun will delve into the multifaceted decision-making dilemmas encountered in designing complex socio-technical systems. Leveraging his practical experiences and extensive research, Professor Jun will shed light on the strategies, methods and tools he uses to successfully identify, visualise, communicate and address these dilemmas.

Professor Coombs’ lecture begins by addressing the pervasive hype surrounding AI, emphasising the need to discern realistic expectations from inflated claims. It sheds light on the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing AI technologies in various business domains. Moreover, his lecture examines how AI technologies are reshaping job roles, highlighting the importance of human-AI collaboration for organisational success.

All lectures begin at 5pm and take place in EHB110b, Edward Herbert Building, with registration from 4.30pm. The Professors will be available for questions and further discussion at a drinks reception after the lectures.
